NEW ----January 2009:  A preliminary draft map for the East County Plan was introduced at the Steering Committee meeting on Dec. 11.  Feedback on the preliminary draft map may be given at the next Steering Committee, tentatively scheduled for Jan. 22. The draft Farming Program Plan was accepted by the Planning Commission on Dec. 19 and will now go to the Board of Supervisors.  A preliminary draft of the North County Plan will be released for public review early this year.

The MSCP:

The MSCP is important because it:

  • Conserves San Diego's natural areas and quality of life.
  • Protects San Diego's diversity of native plants and animals, including threatened and endangered species.
  • Accommodates future growth by streamlining building regulations.
